| King County (ferry) | A side-wheel ferry, the King County, 412 tons, 115.5 x 33, was built at Seattle for operation across Lake Washington by the County of King. She was poorly constructed and suffered misfortunes from the start. At her launching she shot out into the lake and stranded on a mud bank, marooning her party of political and civic dignitaries until a steamer could be brought up to take them off. Plagued by law suits, leaks and faulty machinery, she was condemned in 1908. xxxx. p. 61. |
