Lydia Thompson (tug)
After 53 years of varied and notable service in Puget Sound and Alaska waters, the Lydia Thompson, rechristened Monitor when converted to a steam tug in 1910, became just plain tired and sank early in October in the waters of Lake Union at Seattle. The old vessel had been purchased earlier in the year by Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Hossman for use as a floating home after she had lain motorless since 1932. The Foss Co. raised the vessel temporarily to permit removal of the owners' personal possessions, but she was found to be too badly damaged for repairs. Gordon Newell, Maritime Events of 1946, H.W.
