La Merced (schooner)
The four-masted wooden auxiliary schooner La Merced, a twin-screw vessel of 1,696 tons, 232 x 43.6 x 26.6, built at Benicia, California in 1917 and operated during the war years by the Standard Oil Co., sold the previous year by A. M. Stephens of San Francisco to the Columbia River Smoked Fish Co., was converted at Seattle to a floating saltery for service in Alaska. Gordon Newell, Maritime Events of 1927-28, H.W.
