Myrmidon (gun Vessel)
The screw gun vessel Myrmidon, of 877 tons, was commissioned in October, 1872, by Commander the Honourable Richard Hare at Sheerness, and arrived at Esquimalt on 2nd July, 1873, having come up under sail in 41 days from Callao. In June, 1875, she proceeded from Esquimalt to Seymour Narrows to bring down the crew of the U.S.S. Saranac wrecked on Ripple Rock. In 1877 the Myrmidon returned round Cape Horn to Sheerness where she was paid off.
