| North Star (1) (supply Vessel) | North Star (1), 225-foot wooden motorship, the first of three Bureau of Indian Affairs supply vessels to bear the name, sold to Capt. Edward Colberg of Long Beach, California for service as a freighter in Mexican coastal waters. The sturdy little ship was one of two which carried the Byrd Antarctic expedition to Little America in 1939-41. Following service in the Alaska fisheries, she had lain idle at Ballard for several years. Gordon Newell, Maritime Events of 1968, H. W.
