MANGIA
Biscotti (Twice Baked)
INGREDIENTS:
1 Cup Sugar
3 Cups Flour
2 teasp. Anise Extract
1 Cup Chopped Almonds
3 Eggs
1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
1 teasp. Lemon (optional)
3 Tablespoons Anise Seed (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Cream butter with sugar, add eggs and beat well
-- add flour and other dry ingredients. Add spices
-- mix and knead until smooth -- form two rolls.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Let sit about 10 minutes, then cut and bake 10 minutes
more or to desired crispness.
COMMENTS:
This recipe was my mothers. As we all know, recipes
were unheard of back then. Each had their own way of
making things depending on who taught them and they
were never the same. My Mom had to finally use the
trial-and-error method to get the recipe down on
paper so I would have it.
