MANGIA


BISCUTTI


INGREDIENTS:

·          

·         6 Eggs

·         1 Cup Sugar

·         1 1/2 Cup Oil

·         1 1/2 teasp. Baking Powder

·         1 teasp. Anise seeds or Anise Extract 

·         3 Cups Flour


 
DIRECTIONS:
Beat the eggs slightly.  Gradually add sugar and oil.  
Mix well.  Sift baking powder and flour together, 
and gradually add into mixture.  
Add Anise to the mixture.
Place the entire mix into a jelly roll sheet pan
(or French Bread loaf pan) and spread evenly.  
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and cook for 20 minutes. 
Cool. 
Cut into slices and brown on each side at 400 degrees 
for just a few minutes.
 


 
COMMENTS: 
This recipe was given to my mother Mary Salvarola by 
our long-time neighbor, Mrs. Joseph (Irene) Guido, 
who in turn received it from her mother-in-law.  
It took my mother and I a while to convert the 
"pinches and dashes" of this and that into easily 
read cooking measurements.  
But here it is and they are sooo good!
